Act immediately. Send e-mail in support of this bill as written. SB 322 seeks adult adoptee access, over the age of 18, to their original birth certificate in the same way as non-adopted adults in Missouri SB 322 is not about search or medical records. Please stress that the bill is about adults' rights to their own government held documents. It would be helpful to let the senators know how you are tied to adoption.
It is important that birthmothers write letting the committee know that privacy is not the issue and that no written promise was ever made to them. Adoptive parents should inform the committee that they support SB 322 because they believe that adult adoptees should not be treated differently from anyone else in needing parental consent to access their own information.
