The state generated it and retains property rights over the document; the information it contains, as well as it’s distribution. I need look no further than my own certificate of naturalization to verify this fact. Or your own passport (if you have one). It states quite explicitly that “my” certificate is U.S. government property. The same can be said for *all* government-issued documents, like driver’s licenses or other forms of official identification. So you lose some measure of credibility when you begin your call to action with a misstatement of the facts. But what I get most from this is the sense that you object to the legislation because it wouldn’t benefit *you*.
