Does Bastard Nation collect my personal information?

You may provide personal information to Bastard Nation (bastards.org) in one of three ways: (1) by voluntarily sharing your e-mail address and subscribing to email updates (2) by voluntarily sharing personal information when you provide submissions or inquiries and (3) through tracking information collected as you navigate through our website.

Cookies

When you visit our website or open our email we may send you a cookie. Cookies allow us to track overall website usage and determine areas users prefer, allowing us to make your visit to our website easier by recognizing you when you return.
Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our website. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. If you choose to disable cookies, you may still use our website.

How does Bastard Nation use my personal information?

1) We use the email address you submit with your email notification request for article updates only. We do not share that information with anyone. 2) This also applies to information shared in the process of submitting content. 3) We keep track of activity on our website using log files stored on our web servers. Through collecting non-personally identifying information such as IP address, browser type and version, and pages you view we are able to gather general geographic information about our audience. We also keep track of how you got to our website and any links you click on to leave our website. Pair, our website service provider, uses these logs of your website activity to assist us with technical support, diagnose problems with our server, administer our website and to customize our product and service offerings to you.

Your contact information will never be used to contact you by any party other than Bastard Nation. The only exceptions to the foregoing are that we may disclose personally identifiable information (i) in response to legal process, for example, in response to a court order or subpoena, (ii) in response to a law enforcement agency’s request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take actions regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of another person, violations of our terms of use, or as otherwise required by law, or (iii) in the event we are acquired by or merged with another company.

Your access to and control over information

You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the contact form on the homepage of our website:
See what data we have about you, if any.
Change/correct any data we have about you.
Have us delete any data we have about you.
Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

When you sign up for our email updates, you will always be given the chance to opt-out.

Who else has access to my personal information?

Website submission forms are delivered to Bastard Nation through Aweber. Under no circumstances will Aweber make any personal information about an individual user available to anyone.

Third parties and websites that have links (i.e. sites you visit via our website) on our website may also collect or use information about you. This Privacy Policy does not cover the information practices of other companies or people that Bastard Nation does not employ or manage.
