DO PASS SB 3775
The South Carolina Senate Committee on Medical, Public, and Municipal Affairs has scheduled a hearing on Tuesday April 18 2017 on SB 3775.

The bill:
- restores the right of Original Birth Certificate access and evidence of adoption or paternity determination to persons born in South Carolina 21 and over without restriction
- contains a genuine voluntary Contact Preference form similar to those found in Oregon, Alabama, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island.
- takes effect on January 1, 2018 for adoptions finalized after June 30, 2017 and January 1, 2019 for adoptions finalized before July 1, 2017.
SH 3775 was introduced on February 16, 2017 and has received virtually no publicity. Please contact members of the Senate Committee on Medical, Public, and Municipal Affairs today. to express your support SH 3775 in its current unrestricted form. Ask members to vote DO PASS out of committee in that form.
If you were born and/or adopted in South Carolina, currently live there, or have connections to the state, please include that information with your request.

Please note that a blocker bill has also been introduced. SB 3898, contains numerous unacceptable conditions. We ask that you be aware of this bill, which recently passed the Senate, but that you do not discuss it in your contact on SH 3775. It is imperative to focus on the clean bill.
