I left messages on five of the eight committee members. The other three did not accept the message easily.
I said:
Let the “Show Me State” show the United States that all are equal. My husband and I are adult adoptee born in Illinois and Michigan and neither of us have the ability to receive our OBC. Both of us have found our birth families and I have my birthmother’s 1919 birth certificate and I am listed on her death certificate as her daughter. The era of lies is over.
Do the right thing and please vote YES for HB 1599, as written without restriction. Missouri adoptees should be treated the same as the not adopted. Missouri can step up and show Michigan, Illinois and our nation, that lies don’t help they only hurt.
Good Luck to all of us!
Thanks so much, Good letter. Can you tell me which addys didn’t work? You never know if they’re right until you try to send something and they bounce. I can check them.
Thank you for your help in getting all the stuff in one area, Marley. I have my dog in this fight. I am so upset by Missouri and the corruption and the idiocy: seriously, an article interviewed ONE (1) CI who said that 40-50% of birth mothers do not want to be found. I wanted to scream with anger, but funneled it into my tweet and a letter. The CIs simply want to keep their cash cow. I hate them.
